DAY ONE /

Only 2 hours away from Zagreb, I got on the bus in the early morning with my backpack and arrived Plitvice around 11am. If you like geography, hiking and outdoor, definitely go for the two-day ticket. You can spend a day doing the leisure trail around the lake and the 2nd day into the woods.

Entrance fee during Apr-June (semi-peak season): price in Kuna

Day Ticket: 110 | Student 80

Two-day ticket: 180 | Student 130

Before I get excited in the park, one important thing I had to settle would be purchasing a bus ticket for going to Zadar two days later. The guy at the bus information box was so nice. Clearly, when he realised that I am going to stay at Plitvice Lake Backpackers with Leo (the owner), he said he could keep my backpack for free in his little wooden shelter and sent a text to Leo regarding my arrival.

Plitvice Lake Backpackers

Jezera, Croatia | May 2015

Not bless by the weather, I started the route K on a flooded and muddy path from the lower course to upper course of the waterfall. Truly, I felt like I went for a geography field trip again despite the fact that I am a solo traveller this time. In every 5-10 mins, you will get to see a gorgeous waterfall along the trail.

DAY TWO / with the hostel fellows

Yes, I didn't lose my backpack from keeping at the bus stop fella's wooden box and was being picked up by Leo to his hostel at the end of day 1 - Plitvice Lake Backpackers.

The good thing about hostel is you get to meet a lot of travellers easily and might even found someone who got the same birthday with you. I met a group of Americans who had just finished their exchange program in Czech and now visiting Croatia. Originally, I was thinking to do the Route (1-2-3) to head into the woods of Plitvice Lake. But then, given the option to go on an adventure with these bunch, why not?

I wouldn't say I have made a right choice, instead, quite a spontaneous one. Leaving the wooden path, we slid down the slope and literally swam under a waterfall. So glad to have joined the group to the park on my 2nd day, group trotting made a very different 'lake' experience to me.

Trust Test - Round 2

Right, so there I was all soaked after jumping into the lake. As I was struggling to carry my backpack in the muddy toilet, I met the 2 German siblings from Zagreb walking tour here at the park. Thanks God, they remembered me and would help me to look after my backpack while I was getting change. Having strangers to look after my backpack twice in 2 days, what happen to me eh?! Anyway, I am now dry and ready to hop on the bus to Zadar.

Thank you :)
